John Early
With a series of compilations out and a tremendous year of djing all over the world it’s no wonder that John Early is attracting worldwide attention.
John Early’s love of music began late night when he was ten, calling in song requests to radio stations, waiting until all hours of the night for his request to be played, “mixing” cassette tapes for his friends. Since then, technology has changed, and so has John’s repertoire, but staying up all night, and creating stellar mixes for his friends, which now number in thousands, hasn’t.
Having discovered vinyl in the early nineties, John’s assent, playing in San Francisco’s best clubs, known for creating some of the top D.J.’s in the world, has been as rapid, as it has been exceptional. Musically his style has been created through his travels in Africa, Europe and South America. This mixture of cultures has had a major musical influence. John enjoys playing a great range in repolir from upbeat vocal house to a darker drummy sound representative of one on his major influences Mr. Danny Tenaglia.
As a resident for the Matrix Fillmore, previously known as the world renown recording studio for such music icon’s as Jefferson Starship, John has received accolades for mixing and producing the Matrix’s first ever compilation CD.
John’s second Matrix CD is currently in the works, and will be released by OM Records.
The first Matrix Cd sold very well at Virgin Record Stores across the United States and in Europe. His upcoming CD is coming out on San Francisco’s most respected independent record label, OM. OM’s Dj roster includes many of San Francisco’s best including Mark Farina, Miguel Migs and Kaskade
Among his residencies with Release and Mixed Elements, John is a 6:00 am favorite at the San Francisco institution, The End Up, and is a regular at such clubs as Ruby Sky and 1015 Folsom, playing with the likes of Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo, Seb Fontaine, Steve Lawler and many others. Although John is known by his peers as having “the best record bag in town”, John is also a fixture in Miami and New York’s clubs, and has spent time abroad playing throughout Europe including Ibiza’s Space last July, John recently returned from play Ministry of Sounds Birthday party in London last December.
